Hospice Saint Joseph, in partnership with the US-based Medicines for Humanity (MFH) provides high quality primary healthcare services exclusively to women and children. This new initiative includes basic essential medicines and laboratory tests, through an on-site clinic operating daily. On-site patient education sessions take place each day and center on common health and public health related topics. To ensure the program remains both effective and responsive to the population served and collaborative with other existing healthcare programs, a local advisory committee has been established with representatives from the community, public health sector, medical and social service professionals.
Our goals for 2008-2009 include planning and implementing a community health agent initiative, expanding our food and nutrition initiative to meet the increasing need of the food crisis in Haiti and strengthening collaboration with local schools to provide public health education.
At HSJ, we know it won’t be easy to truly make an impact on the health of women and children in our Christ Roi Community. Yet we know we can do it and we invite each of you to join us- Today. |
